Kukuc prepares for Christmas conference

THE Kukuc community in Markham, Morobe, opened their conference grandstand and launched an early Christmas programme on Sunday.
The village will host the Christmas programme for the first time for Markham and has made an early start.
Kuku is a Bethlehem congregation of Saint Steven Parish, Sagang circuit, Yabim district, Evangelical Lutheran Church of PNG.
The Christmas conference will be for Kaiapit and Sagang circuits.
The grandstand and preparations were launched by Bumayong Lutheran Secondary School principal Saya Daniel.
He is from the area and is chief of a local clan. Kukuc village has a population of more than 1000 people.
The opening was attended by more than 500 people from people of Ngaruwapum, Gainaru, Topmora, Yanuf, and Bantul villages, in the Kaiapit area. Coordinator Mathew Som said they wanted to dedicate the area to the church.
“It will be our first time to host a major event like the Christmas conference, after settling here 10 years ago,” he said.
“We are looking forward to it with preparations currently going on. The conference aims to bring people of Kaiapit and Sangang together.”
Daniel told those gathered that God would bless their efforts.
