PAPUA New Guinea Kumuls halfback Watson Boas says he is expected to resume duties for another season with second-tier English rugby league side Doncaster by June.
The former Rabaul Guria confirmed with The National upon arriving in the United Kingdom last week that he would be playing in the upcoming season, but not until he received medical clearance from his doctor.
“I have a review this week with my surgeon to see how far my knee has recovered after the torn anterior cruciate ligament surgery I had last year,” the former SP Hunters playmaker said.
“I am in no rush to get back to training or playing, “I’ll see what my doctor says about my recovery.”
When asked about his aim for the year after a wretched 2021 season, the 27-year-old said rehabilitation on the injury was his top priority.
“I’m looking forward to Doncaster’s new season that starts in March, but I’m focused on rehabilitation,” Boas said.
“After my review and rehab is completed, I’ll return to training and work around the clock to regain my fitness. But there’s no rush for me as my expected time to resume playing is in June.
The halfback said his recovery was going well, so he would concentrate on that and return to the field for his club.
Boas will remain with the club at least until the end of 2024.
