Kundiawa gets water supply

Nearly 9000 people in Kundiawa town, Chimbu, are expecting to access water supply in the area after it was disconnected from the main water source for almost four years, provincial administrator Joe Kunda Naur says.
Kunda told The National that the provincial government was to sign its first documents with Water PNG and landowners since disconnection in 2013.
He said a memorandum of agreement is expected to be signed at the end of this month once the district court finalises its decision to identify the actual landowner.
“Currently, the town benefits only from an alternate water source from Mogngoma when the main water source Ur (Kamaneku) was shut down,” he said.
Kunda said a team was sent by his office last month to liaise with landowners from the Kamaneku tribes.
Water PNG Kundiawa branch manager Auda Morea confirmed that they were prepared to restore water supply but was waiting for confirmation.
