FORMER Southern Highlands acting administrator and Kutubu chief Dabura Kamuna has called on all Kutubu landowner leaders to put aside their differences and work for the common good.
Kamuna, who has never spoken on landowner issues, decided to come out publicly hours before flying back to Mendi and appealed to his people to work together before going into the Kutubu oil project review.
He called for an end to the on-going media exchanges and the court battles between groups that make up the 135 ILGs in the Foi area, Southern Highlands.
“I call for unity among the Foi landowner leaders from the PDL 2 area. Everyone should work together and put the leadership struggle issues to rest as vowed during the funeral of the late Hami Yawari that all issues will be buried forever and that everyone will work together,” he said.
“That has transpired with the election of Johnny Yawari as the chairman by the 135 ILG chairmen on Oct 13, when 105 chairmen were present to elect the new president.
“I have seen a transparent election and that there were no threats issued to anyone,” Kamuna said.
“We have promised to stand together to deliver to our people and maximise the benefits from the Kutubu, Moran and Southeast Malanda projects.”
Chairman elect Yawari said he was prepared to serve his people and called on Sese Vege and his group to work together with his group for the benefit of the people.
“It is time to change.
“It is a new era. Let’s work together for our people.
“My team is not to fight but deliver to the people because they have suffered for too long.
“We must be united for the Kutubu review,” he said.
