Lack of road affecting coffee farmers

WHILE some people have easy access to goods and services to sell their produce, others are still struggling to earn a little profit.
In Yeva ward one of Nanima local government in Menyamya, Morobe, the people have a huge volume of coffee they produce monthly.
But according to two village leaders, their main problem is road connectivity.
Yakam Yamos and Dennis Yos said they produce coffee in abundance but it usually took them three days to cross two big rivers, and two mountains to reach a road at Menyamya to take their produce to Lae.
“Many people have lost their lives while looking for basic services,” Yamos said.
“The two fast flowing rivers are dangerous and have taken lives and goods.
“It made it hard for us especially when we are transporting our dry coffee beans.
“We can produce coffee at a huge volume because we have more than a hundred coffee farmers but the problem is we are not connected by road and many have lost interest.
“We are the last village of Morobe bordering Gulf.”
