LADY Emeline Tufi Dadae urged women to practice humility, have values and team work to survive in a world filled with gender equity struggles.
“That (embrace equity) is a powerful two-word statement and it is directed at women,” she said.
“Naturally, women are revered as mothers, wives, sisters and as friends and confidantes.
“We can harness that respect and regards for us women to make a better and secure environment and community for all.”
“But, we can only achieve that when we recognise and appreciate each other.
It is when we embrace equity amongst ourselves in spite of our differences and status that we can achieve significant outcomes for ourselves and our communities,” she added.
The Governor-General’s wife spoke at a Women’s Day celebration in Vabukori village hosted by the Vabukori Women’s Development Association in Central on Saturday.
Dadae said women needed to be humble and work together to embrace their potential.
“Granted it is easier said than done.
It requires humility and humbleness on our part to recognise and appreciate our fellow women,” she said, adding that women should accept criticisms as a guide to improve and allow for more opportunities and possibilities.
