Lae Rotary Club appoints new president

THE Rotary Club of Lae Huon Gulf has appointed its first Papua New Guinean female president to oversee its activities in Lae, Morobe.
Catherine Koavea Galgal has been with the club for almost five years since she first joined the club in 2015 and her election to the top post was a vote of confidence in her ability.
Fellow Rotarians, family and friends congratulated Galgal at a recent ceremony.
She received congratulatory messages from the management and staff at Atlas Steel PNG Ltd where she works as a graphic design artist.
Galgal said she intended to continue with the theme of promoting healthcare and education throughout the Lae and Huon Gulf area.
She said she would support the current Rotary Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme which was administering the vaccine to young women for the prevention of cervical cancer.
The HPV vaccination programme is sponsored by Boroko Rotary and Rotary International.
Galgal organised a container load of donated goods from Australia.
This container is currently being processed by PNG Customs and Express Freight Management is handling the logistics.
