Lae rugby on pause for national 15s titles

FINALS for Morobe Rugby Union football in Lae, Morobe has been deferred and will be held after the national provincial 15s championship.
The 2012 Interoil-sponsored six team competition which has been played for two rounds, ended last weekend with the points ladder standings in the premier division: Consort Shipping Royals on 37 points, Hornibrook NGI Harlequins 35, Bismark Pirates 30, Chemcare Defence 23, Riback Unitech Reds and Dulux Viking Dogs 21 points each.
In the A grade division Royals are on top of the points ladder and closely followed by Harlequins, Viking Dogs, Pirates, Unitech Reds and Chemcare Defence.
The points’ table for the A grade division will be confirmed after the officials update points for and against.
In the Under-21 division of the competition, Harlequins are clear leaders and sitting comfortably on 38 points with Unitech Red trailing on 29, followed by Royals 26, Viking Dogs 24, Pirates 23 and Defence on 21 points.
The finals will see the top four teams of each division going into the finals with first and second placed teams battling out to see who will book the first grand final spot while the losers will play the winners of third and fourth placed teams.
Meanwhile the PNGRUF sanctioned rugby tournament that will bring the best in the 15s rugby will be held in lae over the Independence weekend.
