Lae soccer clubs begin trial matches

WITH 27 days to the start of the semi-professional National Soccer League, franchises in Lae have begun their trial matches.
On Sunday Lae City Dwellers, now to be known as Toti City FC had a strong challenge from FC Morobe Wawens.
The City boys, with their NSL experience had the upper hand over the young guns from Wawens winning the trial match 4-2.
Morobe Football Association president Peter Seske said NSL trials for the former Lae City Dwellers FC against Morobe FC Limited-owned FC Morobe Wawens was a preview of Besta of what to expect of the Morobe Football Associations two NSL clubs.
Seske said this Sunday the two football clubs would face each other in another trial to stamp their strength for the 2017/2018 NSL season.
“The Toti City FC is three-time NSL champions and OFC league campaigners whilst the new kid on the football block is FC Morobe Limited’s FC Morobe Wawens. Player’s from Wawens are from Besta MFAs men’s divisions.”
“FC Morobe Wawens have begun training yesterday in preparation for the NSL trial with Toti City on Sunday. They will have to play Murat FC on Wednesday to confirm the team that will take on the three-time champions of PNG,” Seske said.
