Lae Softball president Lindsay Pulu says their competition is more competitive, with different teams making the finals.
He said the traditional grand final rivalry between the IST Manalos and Admiralty Marlins in the men’s division would not feature this season.
“It has always been the Manalos versus the Marlins, but this season proved more competitive,” Pulu said.
“It’s anybody’s game now.”
Pulu said all the matches will be played on Sunday from 1-4pm except for a wash-out game tomorrow.
He said for the women’s A-grade, Stormerz will play the Diamond Stars.
Pulu said for the men’s A-grade, there will be a wash-out game between the Jetz and the Stormerz to determine who plays Bismark.
“For the B-grade, the Marlins will play against Moros,” Pulu said.
Pulu said the women’s match will be an interesting encounter as an experienced Diamond Stars side take on a youthful and energetic Stormerz line-up.
Pulu commended Stormerz for an impressive run of form to book a grand final spot.
“Both teams have nothing to lose,” he said.
Pulu said the Lae Reds and Gold along with a development side will be named after the grand final for the national softball titles in Lae at the end of the month.
