THE Lahi Soccer Association will be hosting the Papua New Guinea Football Association-sanctioned regional club championships from July 3-7.
Local organising committee chairman Tinge Emuka will oversee the tournament which will be staged at the Sir Ignatius Kilage Stadium and Lae Football Association Park.
Teams confirmed to take part in the men’s championship are Sobou (Lahi), City United (Lae Football Association), Tusbab Kumuls (Madang), Bulolo United (Bulolo), Poro (Morobe Football Association) and Hardrocks (Wau).
In the women’s division, clubs taking part are Prima Power (Lahi), Bara (Lae Football Association), Marlins (Madang), Morobe West (Bulolo), Poro (Morobe Football Association) and Hiltop Neighbors (Wau).
Bulolo Football Association is affiliated to Lahi Soccer Association whilst Morobe Football Association is an affiliation of Wau Football Association.
According to Emuka, with only three weeks to go, the PNGFA wants to give enough time to the top-two men’s and women’s teams to raise funds for the national club championships, which is in Port Moresby in September.
Emuka said the local hosting committee was now appealing to all member associations to start contacting them to summit their names for the championships.
The club championships are only open to the 2018 minor premiers.
The fee for the regional club championships is K500 per team and must be paid into Lahi Soccer Association account (13847066) at the ANZ Bank, Lae branch.
For more details, the committee can be contacted through Emuka on 70659022 or email on [email protected].
