THE process of electing landowner association leaders is important and must be respected, an official says.
Mineral Resources Development Company general manager external affairs and sustainable development Imbi Tagune made the remark when congratulating the newly-elected Ramu Nico project landowner association executives in Madang last week.
He said leaders were there to serve the people and represent their members well in stakeholder agencies.
The association executives of the Ramu Nico project impact area attended a three-day induction workshop hosted by the Mineral Resources Authority. “I hope the workshop can guide the leaders to represent the people by understanding the role and function of each stakeholder so they know how to approach the various entities for mine issues affecting their communities,” Tagune said.
The workshop was an opportunity for the different resources sector agencies to present their roles and functions to the new executives.
The agencies who presented their roles and functions included the MRDC, MRA, Department of Treasury, Madang provincial administration, RamuNico and the Department of Lands and Physical Planning.
