Landowners receive financial literacy training

LANDOWNERS from the Ramu NiCo project impact area in Madang have been advised to use their royalty money wisely and avoid unnecessary spending.
This was the message during a financial literacy awareness session conducted by Bank South Pacific’s Madang branch. “It is better to use your money wisely and stay within your budget because it allows you to assign your income to different types of expenses” BSP trainer Gaudi Manu said during a session training at Usino station and Naru Primary School in the Usino local level government. Manu said it was important to have a budget for their income sources so they do not spend unnecessarily.
“It helps (you) make decisions on spending and saving and encourages caution and disciplined spending.
“It allows one to take control of financial situations, helps organise and manage money effectively and helps one plan for the future and meet ones financial goals,” he said.
The awareness was held recently covering the Ramu NiCo project impacted landowners from Banu to Naru villages.
