THE landowners of the Hela Hides-Porgera Pylon have asked the Government for a contract to provide electricity to the new Porgera gold mine project in Enga.
Representative Alfred Nelson said the landowner company Trans-Provincial Corporation Ltd (TPCL) had incorporated the umbrella company as a small to medium enterprise opportunity to generate and sell electricity to the new mine.
“We wish to partner with the Kumul Minerals Holdings Ltd, National Gas Corporation and Hela provincial government on this,” Nelson said.
He said the landowners were yet to establish an ownership percentage structure between joint venture partners.
“Once we declare dividends, we will work out the disbursement formula with Barrick Niugini Ltd and they will disburse according to the existing lease and security payment schedule on foot,” Nelson said.
Meanwhile, the landowners have thanked Prime Minister James Marape for ensuring that the Porgera project would reopen soon.
“The landowners are looking forward to supporting the project’s warden hearing this month,” Nelson added.
