Landowners want ILG accounts

LANDOWNERS of the Petroleum Development Licence (PDL) Eight want the Mineral Resource Development Company (MRDC) and State to open their Incorporate Land Group (ILG) accounts.
Angore PDL Eight chairman and spokesman John Tambiabu said this was important for the Gas-to-Power landholders in Angore to ensure that the power supply continued to the Porgera mine.
“We are requesting for the opening of Angore PDL Eight ILG
accounts first, then we can talk about Angore PDL Eight power supply to Porgera Mine or opening Hides PDL One account using court identified Angore PDL Eight Block 1642 clans,” he said.
In a recent statement, MRDC reiterated that it continued to engage the Hides leadership in the process, and that its execution was independent and done without fear or favour, as was the case for Hides, PDL Seven, and PNG LNG and pipeline segments.
According to the MRDC landowner beneficiaries of PDL One, both the PDL Eight and PDL Nine will undergo the same stringent process to open their clan bank accounts to receive their benefits.
Tambiabu asked: “Why is the State through MRDC delaying the opening of the Angore PDL Eight ILG account and using our court-identified clans to do business for Angore PDL Eight to the Porgera Mine power supply?”
He said using the court-identified ILGs to do business in Hides PDL One account opening by MRDC, while withholding opening the PDL Eight ILG account, was “senseless”.
MRDC is advising all parties to be present from April 15-19 for the awareness on the account opening for PDL One, while clans and blocks with existing court orders restraining the process will have their accounts opening delayed.
