Lands dept suspends officer over allegations

The Department of Lands and Physical Planning has suspended a senior officer pending investigations into allegations relating to Incorporated Land Group (ILG) issues.
Department Secretary Benjamin Samson told The National that former ILG registrar Iruna Rogakila was suspended in relation to issues concerning the Wafi-Golpu ILGs.
He said they would look into how the Wafi Golpu ILGs were handled and the ILG data base in the department.
“The contractor (named) involved in compiling the database was paid for a job he completed (but) was allegedly reengaged without the consent of the management,” he said.
Samson said the matter was now before the disciplinary committee.
Sharon Kila has been appointed acting registrar of ILGs.
Samson said the department had stopped processing ILGs because of the issues with the database.
“There is a data base that stores all the ILGs information,” he said.
“We had issues with the contractor engaged to carry out the job which is the reason we suspended the former registrar.”

  • There are many corrupt lands department employees who are collaborating with individuals and companies to carry out illegal acts foe personal gain. One such activity is the transfer of existing titles to new comers who offer them money….the highest bidder. Such actions must be stopped for good through a prudent records management system!

  • I thought all data in the DLPP were digitized with electronic system during PNG Gardener JTs days as the DLPP Minister !!

Or this is another section of the ‘white elephant??’
