Laptop gift opens new world for 400 students

Education

A parent in Western Highlands has thanked the Lite Haus Foundation of Australia for giving 11 laptops to the school to help provide quality education for 400 students.
Parent and Kopi tribe councillor Peter Raim, during the laptop presentation on Friday at Kuta Primary School in Mt Hagen by foundation founder Jack Growden, said education needed to be raised to the next level to make the students more competitive.
Raim said parents from the neighbouring Elti, Pinambi and the Moge tribes must be proud that their children attending Kuta primary will now learn and know basic computing skills.
He said computer skills were needed to be taught at primary level but this was not happening.
“These laptops will help our students a lot in their learning and I as a parent would like to commend Jack for the support,” Raim said.
“It is a big bonus for us the people here because we want our children to have a better education.”
He said the 400 students will now have computer lessons.
Growden said the support was to increase the standard of education for Kuta Primary School students.
He said the laptops would improve literacy and there were many benefits for the students.
“This support is giving hope to the students here and I’m pleased to donate these laptops to the school,” he said.
Growden said education was important because it made a student an important person in life, and his gosl was to support education.
“I also would like to encourage the students to study hard when they have access to learn computer skills,” he said.
Growden thanked the donors from Australia for their support to transport the laptops to PNG.
“The donors back in Australia have assisted in a big way to transport the laptops to Mt Kuta,” he said.
He said the aim of the foundation was to help provide quality education to the people of Mt Kuta.
Growden added that education was an important area in life and students and parents need to take it seriously.
