Lastest Covid-19 patients discharged from centre

PAPUA New Guinea’s recent Covid-19 cases, two females in Port Moresby who tested positive late last month, were discharged from the Rita Flynn Indoor Complex with no symptoms on Thursday after completing their 14-day isolation period, according to officials.
The 10th case, announced on June 24, was a soldier from Murray Barracks and the 11th case, announced the next day (June 25), had been in close contact with the soldier.
Acting Health secretary and National Pandemic deputy controller Dr Paison Dakulala told The National yesterday that there were currently no new Covid-19 cases in the country.
Dr Dakulala stressed that the announcement of any new cases would only be made by the office of the controller.
He said from the contact tracing of the ninth case, the two recent cases were tested positive and all the tests that followed came back negative for Covid-19.
He advised any member of the public with pneumonia or flu-like symptoms to report to a hospital where a sample would be taken to be tested for the Covid-19.
He said it was the duty of all health facilities to collect swabs for testing.

Dr Dakulala called for vigilance with all provinces already having Covid-19 response measures in place to manage emergency situations and all arrivals going through the 14-day quarantine period.
He said those PNG citizens being repatriated back to the country were being quarantined at the cost of the Government while those private company employees were meeting their own costs.
