SISTERS Gloria and Regina Lanson dedicated their graduating from the University of Goroka (UOG) last Friday to their mother Nancy Lanson who died in 2009.
Their father Lanson Inanu also attributed his daughter’s achievements towards his late wife.
“Despite the struggles over the years without the support of their mother, I strived to ensure my children pass out of the highest learning institution,” Lanson said.
He said parents must provide undivided support towards their children to get decent education to sustain their livelihood in future.
“The government is taking right approach in providing free education and parents must support their children as education is the way forward for the future generation,” Lanson said.
Gloria graduated with a post graduate diploma in education while Regina graduated with a bachelor in applied science.
The two sisters follow in the footsteps of elder brother Willie, who graduated with an honours degree in education and teaches at the Goroka Secondary School.
Gloria is teaching at Mercy Secondary School in East Sepik while Regina will continue studies for a graduate diploma in education at UOG this year.
Two other Lanson children are working with their father at the Goroka Base Hospital.
Daughter Vivian and son Tosen work as information technology specialists.
The youngest of the Lanson children, Havilla, is in Grade 9 in Goroka.
