Laws relating to land issues need amending, says secretary

DEPARTMENT of Lands and Physical Planning secretary Benjamin Samson says there is need for amendments to the current laws relating to land issues.
Samson, who was recently appointed to the senior office, told The National that it was important to make land available, especially customary land for registration to have bankable titles that could help the landowners.
On Friday he signed his four-year employment contract which he saw as an opportunity to provide leadership for the department.
Having worked with the department’s rank and file to becoming the Registrar of Land Titles before attaining the highest seat, Samson said people needed to help themselves register their land so they could contribute to growing the economy.
