BEING a Christian without action is a dead faith, lawyer cum-missionary Kelly Naru says.
He said that while giving out K45,000 to churches and groups during the Lutheran Church’s 28th  national synod in Goroka last week.
The amount did not include the K30,000 he donated towards the hosting of the synod in Goroka.
Naru spent K75,000 to help church groups in the synod that ended last weekend.
“Having a faith without action is a dead faith, we have to put into action what we believe and develop a habit of giving,” he said.
“The theme of the 28th synod is ‘Wokabout wantaim femili insaid long pasin blong givim (walking with families in the habit of giving)” and I, as an elder in the church, display the theme with action.”
Naru responded to a request from the Tiripini Lutheran church in Ialibu in Pangia, SHP, with K10,000 to rebuild their church and a pastor’s house.
He gave K10,000 to the Nagamiufa Lutheran church to rebuild their collapsed church building and K10,000 towards the Karkar circuit, Madang, to prepare for the 29th synod in 2014.
Naru presented K15,000 – K3,000 to church groups in Morobe.
The cash handouts went to Kote, Yabim, Ukata, Boana and Siassi circuits.
“It is to give glory back to God who gives a lot of blessings in our lives, it is always good to action the faith we have in God, if there is no action the faith we have is a dead faith,” Naru said.
Kopi Manove and Apere Goso, of the Nagamiufa Lutheran church, outside Goroka Town, thanked Naru for his help.
Manove said the small church building at Nagamiufa village was built in the 1960s and had been left to collapse before Naru came to their help.
Heti Maki, the daughter the pioneer pastor of Nagamiufa church, cried when Naru gave K10,000 to her father.
Likewise, recipients from Ukapa circuit, in the Kabwum area, Bayuse Basingmuc and Sangisisi Sapevillis, said they came from remote parts of Morobe.
They said they found it difficult to return but with Naru’s help, they could go back safely.
