Leaders can make or break country: OC

CHIEF Ombudsman Michael Dick has told MPs and senior bureaucrats that leaders can make or break a country.
Dick said this during launching of administrative guidelines and financial instructions for the services improvement programme (SIP) funds developed by the Department of Implementation and Rural Development (Dird).
“I tend to believe that leaders are a rare asset of any society, because these are the people who will either break or make a society based on the decisions they make,” he said.
“The fact that you are elected to Parliament, or serving in a public office leading others, means that you are a special person and you must appreciate yourself as such a rare group of people.”
Dick said any decision that a leader make must be people centred.
“Your business as a leader is to serve the people,” he said.
“People should matter the most in your life than any other thing.
“If you want to make a decision, think about the struggles the people face in the remote villages of our country.
“Think about a mother or a child who died from curable disease because of no health services available.
“Only then, you will be able to make good and credible decisions.”
