Leadership is about setting direction

Letters

THE word leadership can bring to mind a variety of images.
For instance, a political leader, pursuing a passionate, personal cause.
An explorer, cutting a path through the jungle for the rest of his group to follow.
An executive, developing her company’s strategy to beat the competition
Leaders help themselves and others to do the right things.
They set direction, build an inspiring vision, and create something new.
Leadership is about mapping out where you need to go to “win” as a team or an organisation; and it is dynamic, exciting, and inspiring.
Yet, while leaders set the direction, they must also use management skills to guide their people to the right destination, in a smooth and efficient way.
With the nominations completed and campaigns are underway, leaders are used to deceive people with their sugar-coated words.
These are the traits for a bad leader.
A leader must be able to interact with ordinary people.
Listen to their needs and problems.
Eat with them and get to know more about ordinary people.
These are kind of leaders that we should vote.
Abraham Lincoln’s definition of democracy remains the most intuitive essence of this form of government: Government of the people, by the people, for the people.
These is a people-oriented type of leaders who formed governments in Lincoln’s era.
Papua New Guinea national parliament needs leaders who won’t drives in dark glass V8 and Prado’s but walk and takes public transport just like other ordinary citizens.
Let us all vote for leaders who possess such leadership.
Over to you readers to decide.
