League brawl

Letters

IT was exciting watching Madang Rugby League stage the U20s and women’s grand final to end the 2018 league season on Sunday.
The game was running well in the first 30 minutes with Takara 1 Hawks registering the first six points on the scoreboard.
The Madang Royal’s left winger went close to the Hawks’ tryline, was put down by strong defence and a fight started.
Police went in to disperse the players and ended the game.
What a bad ending. It shows that we are still way behind the rest of the town and city leagues which ended their seasons with great grand-final matches.
We have to apply some standard rugby league rules in both defence and attack.
We have referees to sort things out and award penalties for infringements and dangerous play.
Let’s try and behave better next year.
