THE Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) is cracking down on opportunists sneaking into venue to watch Digicel Cup matches.
PNGRFL has engaged Wenett Building Construction to build a higher and stronger fence around Morobe’s Lae Rugby League Oval.
Titus Ogame, the company’s construction manager, told The National on Monday that his employees were working around the clock to have the eastern end of the fence erected before Sunday’s match between the Lae Snax Tigers and Kroton Hela Wigmen.
He said when they were pulling down the old fence, they noticed a lot openings (holes) in the fence that would have allowed people easy access into the venue.
“We put a brick foundation for the fence and raised it high, so that it becomes impossible for opportunists to sneak into the venue,” Ogame said.
“We are constructing a fence 130m long and about four metres high.
“We were given two weeks to complete the job.
“I have about 18 men working from 8am to 6pm every day aiming to get the job done before the game,” he said.
“If we get the job done on time and within budget, PNGRFL will allow us to do the other ends of the fence well.”
