Three-hundred members of Legion of Mary in Lae on Saturday renewed their vows to be faithful in ministry.
The members, including junior legions from four Catholic curia (zones) in Lae diocese, gathered at Saint Sebastian Parish in East Taraka and renewed their vows.
St Sebastian is in East curia, which hosted other members.
The Legion of Mary are soldiers of Mother Mary, who evangelise and witness people to get closer to God.
Legions from each presidium (parish) from Lae Town, Central, East, and Bulolo renewed their vows to be legions for the next 12 months in front of Bishop Rozario Menezes.
Legion members from Siassi did not attend due to distance.
The renewal of vows is done every March 25, but this year’s was held on March 23.
There are more than 1000 legion members in Lae diocese.
Rozario told legions during their renewal of vows to be faithful to their faith in Christ in the ministry.
“Be strong soldiers of Mary, continue to fight and bring souls to Jesus,” he said.
Lae diocese Legion of Mary president, Paius Kafur, said members had renewed their vows and would work hard to get souls to Christ.
He said they would be working with all parish priests and councils within the diocese to spread the love of Christ to get more people into church.
“There are lot of backsliders out there in community that we are focusing on to get them back,” Kafur said. “Some are not even attending masses and confessions.”
