Let law take its course

Letters

WHY is the former Prime Minster Peter O’Neill so intent on dragging the court process into the mud.
This country is bigger than anyone so let the process continue if he has nothing to hide.
His continuous attempts to stall the investigations by police through the use of the court process only increases people’s suspicions.
This, obviously, seems similar to what happened while he was still the prime minster.
Do not waste police and the court’s time, please.
It would be good for the man if he and his lawyers leave the processes to continue smoothly to determine whether he is guilty or not. Only then will our people’s minds be put to rest.
Otherwise, what has transpired does not look good for him in the public and it also tarnishes his name internationally.
We hope that common sense will prevail to sort this rather messy situation out and police will be left alone to do their job without fear or favour for justice to take its course and help put the matter to rest.
If other leaders throughout the world can allow for the courts to deal with them, then why do leaders in Papua New Guinea continue to hide behind the courts to protect themselves from investigations?
Leaders have an obligation to serve their people and they should face the consequences of their actions, if they are found to be in the wrong for whatever reasons that is against the laws of this nation.
We wait to see true leaders humbly accepting their fate, if they are at odds with the laws of this nation.
