IT has outstanding season so far for Papua New Guinea Lewas duo Brenda Tau and Sibona Jimmy with Brisbane women’s first grade cricket team, the Ipswich Logan Hornets.
In his review of the duo, Hornets coach Wayne Bichel has noted excellent performances from the Hanuabada pair for the first half of the season.
“Both girls have been outstanding across the first half of the season, their attitude, their approach, they are so well liked and respected by the whole club,” he said.
“Both Brenda and Sibona’s leadership skills have been brilliant with these young players who are so keen to learn.
“These young players have already learnt so much just batting with Brenda in the middle and Sibona’s general match awareness.
“Both players are always willing to share their knowledge, coach and help out at training.”
In the first half of the season, the duo have had some great highlights with Tau scoring a century and nearly bagging a second with 92 runs last month.
Jimmy scored 50 runs with 15 wickets.
She is one of the leading wicket takers in the competition, just outside the top-10.
Tau and Jimmy are contracted with the team for one year and have since impressed the coaches and younger players in their side.
Bichel commended the duo for an outstanding performance in the recently held Australian Cricket Country Championships and he acknowledged Cricket PNG for the talent coming out of the country.
