LILLIAN Mepi is the first in her family to graduate with a bachelor in education from the University of Goroka last month.
Lillian, 26, is the second child of Mani Mepi and Waka Jim from Semberigi in Kagua-Erave, Southern Highlands.
“I know that I am not the first or the last person to graduate with a bachelor in education, there’s been many who had walked the same path in education to serve PNG.
“As for me, I want to contribute to the nation by not only teaching in the classroom, but to go out and bring out the inner most, hidden potential for every student who I come across,” Mepi said.
She shared with The National her belief in personalised education as the key to increasing growth in learning for every student.
“Personalised education involves tailoring teaching methods, curriculum and learning materials to individual needs,
interest and learning styles of students. By recognising and accommodating their unique strengths and weaknesses, students are more likely to be engaged and motivated to learn,” Mepi said.
She emphasised that personalised education could foster deeper understanding of concepts as it allows students to progress at their own pace and explore areas of interest, providing opportunities for hands-on and practical learning experience that could enhance learning and the personal growth of the student.
Mepi acknowledged her family for their continued support and Santos Limited for its sponsorship in the last two years, helping her on the journey towards achieving her dream.
