AIR Niugini’s subsidiary Link PNG has reported a net profit after-tax of K15.1 million for 2017, which is an increase from K9.1 million net profits in 2016.
The subsidiary recorded a total profit of more than
|K28 million since it was established in November 2014.
Air Niugini and Link PNG chairman Sir Frederick Reiher congratulated Link PNG management and staff on a positive outcome despite the challenging economic climate.
He said Link PNG required financial support when it was first established in its initial years of operations.
“However, it has been very pleasing to see that Link PNG has actually been profitable from day one,” Sir Frederick said.
“This profitable results have allowed Link PNG to invest in additional routes around the country and to work to induct an additional Dash 8-315 aircraft to bring the total Link PNG fleet to eight Dash 8 airplanes.”
Link PNG’s flights to Tari airport, Hela, are still suspended until at least May 10 when the airport authority is expected to give an update on the situation.
Link PNG is also working with National Airports Corporation and local authorities to address the security issue at the Tari airport.
