The National – Thursday, August 11th 2011

six remote local level governments (LLG) begin the main
enumeration this week after having completed their training last week, the national census
team in Port Moresby says.
The team confirmed yesterday that the census units were located in Northern, Gulf, West Sepik and New Ireland.
“They include Kotindanga and Kaintiba in Gulf, Kira and Safia LLG in Oro (Northern), Telefomin in West Sepik and an island community in New Ireland,” a team spokesperson said.
He said most of the LLGs started late because of their isolation, except for New Ireland which had funding problems.
Last week national census director Hajily Kele reported that more than 90% of the work had been completed.
She said the 3% represented isolated areas in the country.
