A LOCAL entrepreneur is trying to inspire women to do their best in whatever they do.
Mamina Coffee founder Nellie Varmari, who attended the Lae real estate show on Friday, said women had been left out in economic activities and needed to get involved in the small to medium enterprise sector.
“As a woman in SMEs (small to medium enterprises), I’m here to inspire women to do their best,” she said.
Varmari said a portion of the revenue from her pink coffee packets sold was given to help mothers and girls.
“As a child growing up in the Highlands, I have a love for coffee,” she said.
“When I was growing up in Kundiawa, my dad roasted coffee and growing up seeing this motivated me to get involved with coffee.
“I went from job to job supplying coffee from Ukarumpa under Superior Coffee.
“I had the privilege to showcase my products at the Apec 2018 Food Security meeting where my coffee stole the show and that’s how I came out.”
Varmari said her aim was to own a coffee plant and roast her coffee instead of depending on other plants to roast her coffee.
“To women and girls, if I can do it, you can do it,” she said.
“I started this business with two 10 kilogramme coffee bags and K300 cash and came this far.
“The coffee I used is 100 per cent organic from Goilala and what I’m doing is not for my own benefit but will help growers in the rural areas.
Varmari said her coffee packages comes in whole bean, brown, medium roast, and dark roast.
