Local farmers thankful for partnership with CPL

FARMERS who have been supplying garden produce to the City Pharmacy Limited (CPL) were at its Stop and Shop supermarket in Waigani Central, Port Moresby yesterday for the ‘We PNG Buy PNG’ programme.
The farmers from Central, Gulf, Sepik, Eastern Highlands and East New Britain and others were grateful for the partnersh.
Central farmer Joseph Wamina, who has been supplying fruits and vegetables to CPL for 13 years, said he was grateful for the opportunity the company gave to sustain his businesses.
“I have been supplying fresh produce like pawpaw, snake beans, lettuce and round cabbage for years,” he said.
“We appreciate the opportunity that CPL group has provided us because this is our livelihood.”
Goroka farmer Ovelyn Ajopa, who has been supplying ginger for eight years, said she was grateful for her association with CPL.
“The support that CPL has given helped us in sustaining our families and livelihood. I look forward to continue working with CPL,” she said.
CPL project manager Pierre Dobunaba said most of the farmers had been providing fresh farm produce for a long time.
“These farmers have been supplying fresh produce to Stop and Shop stores for years and some of them have been in business with the company for over 10 years.”
