Locals get ILG papers

THE landowners of Nadzab Airport and Erap Agriculture Station in Morobe have finally received their Incorporated Land Group certificates from the Lands Departments after 43 years.
The land taken by the State in 1973 under a lease agreement is owned by the OrogNaron clan of Gabsongkeg village.
OrogNaron LLG spokesperson Geyam Warago said that with their ILG now being registered, the group could better safeguard their land from other parties who were trying to claim ownership by using bribery and other corrupt means, especially the Nadzab Airport and Erap Agriculture Station.
The clan does not sell land to individuals but is partnering with the Government and other investors to develop their land around the area.
The arrangements are expected to bring immense benefits to the wider communities because of its strategic location in the development plan along the Lae-Nadzab corridor and proposed township at the airport.
