Locals thank Powi for allocation to airstrips

 PEOPLE in Polopa, Erave,  Southern Highlands have commended Governor William Powi for allocating K300,000 for three airstrips. 

They thanked him for appointing Ezekiel Kipe as assisting project coordinator for Southern Highlands. The three airstrips are Tiri, Sopuse and Wopusale.

Spokesman George Tombu said that would help 12,000 people from the nine council wards who depended on air transport. 

The three airstrips had been forced to close because of their deteriorating conditions.

Tombu said Polopa was a least-developed area in the Southern Highlands in terms of basic government services.
