Lodge owner calls on provincial govt to pay outstanding bills

A LODGE owner who provided accommodation for Morobe local level government (LLG) council presidents after the 2019 LLG elections has called on the provincial government to pay its bills since small businesses are struggling to survive during the state of emergency period.
Mavra Lodge owner, John Nickolas said he accommodated more than 20 LLG council presidents in August, 2019, when they were lobbying for the deputy governor seat after their election. Nickolas said his claim was a genuine one and he had not been paid.
He said the Covid-19 pandemic had caused many businesses to collapse and others were struggling to stay open.
“I need to be paid for my business to survive these difficult times.”
He said the LLG presidents asked if they could be accommodated at his lodge on a credit basis while lobbying for the deputy governor’s seat.

  • So sorry for this little Mavra Lodge owner,he needs the money for daily operations cost, this socalled LLG bureacracy should pay up their bill. The national government has allocated money for running this council eletions and they never tend to pay due bills. The MPG must assist because small business are stuggle to survive during such critical period.

  • am sure the all arrangement must have been done in good faith, yet when you have the money, the all scenario changes. No wonder similar incidences we see happening from our money lenders. I do sympathize for the small striving lodge owner trying to make ends meet.
