Look after properties, soldiers told

SOLDIERS need to value, respect and look after all PNG Defence Force properties in order to maintain a high standard, commander Major-General Gilbert Toropo says.
Toropo said all properties, including buildings, equipment and facilities, needed to be maintained well and looked after as the force could not replace them easily.
“The country is going through tough times and with limited funds to cater for Government agencies, as PNGDF would be the least prepared agency to be funded,” he said.
“PNGDF will not be able to police the borders and do its mandated activities effectively.
“Men and women of PNGDF, appreciate what you and I cannot afford but was given by our Government and donors.
“I urge us to look after these infrastructure developments.”
Toropo said through the support from partners, PNGDF had seen infrastructure improvement and continued to carry out its operation.
He said infrastructure rehabilitation was the reflection of the strong partnership and friendship between Australia and PNG over the years.
