Lupari warns civil servants to manage resources

SENIOR public servants have been told to live within their means and manage resources to ensure service is delivered to the people.
Chief Secretary Isaac Lupari, pictured, in addressing administrators and their deputies at a provincial and local-level service-monitoring authority meeting on Monday, urged them not to be extravagant.
“We all know the reason, the constraints that we have, and we are not able to deliver everything that we want to deliver,” Lupari said.
“We must bring forward that same resilience in 2018.
“It is a difficult year for us. If you look at the budget, it’s going to be difficult implementing that budget.”
“Make no mistake, it needs us as leaders in the public service right from the districts, to the province, to the national level to be able to see all the challenges and navigate a way in overcoming those challenges.
“It is about taking our responsibilities seriously, not just being provincial administrator, chief executive officer, chief secretary or heads of mission.
“We are limited by all the constraints that we have.
“It means that we as chief implementers in the public service, have got to make sure that we operate within those constraints.
“My message today is going to be very simple, 2018 is going to be a challenging year.”
