THE Evangelical Lutheran Church is focusing on preaching the gospel and addressing issues affecting the country and society, says head Bishop Rev Jack Urame says.
Urame spoke at the Marimari Lutheran Church in Port Moresby yesterday when launching and blessing the church’s eight-year (2018-2025) corporate plan for the Papua District.
“Lutheran is not only a church that focuses on preaching the gospel in this country,” he said. “We understand the issues and the challenges our people and the society are facing in the country, we also trying to address some of these issues and challenges to ensure we manifest God’s love by bringing peace and joy to those who are suffering and in need of help.
“I am pleased with the effort and the courage our congregation and leaders in Papua District had put to come up with a district corporate plan,” Urame said.
The Papua District church covers the six provinces of Central, National Capital District, Gulf, Western, Northern and Milne Bay.
