Maclaren FC players were disappointed with their 1-0 loss to Momase in the Port Moresby Soccer Association Premier League yesterday at the Bisini soccer grounds.
The catch up game for both sides saw a tight contest with could have gone either way but according to Maclaren FC midfielder Kelvin Kensen, their missed opportunities cost them the result in the end.
In the dying minutes of the game, Momase striker Mylie Zogiyoba scored to break Maclaren’s hearts.
“Our strikers wasted a lot of opportunities and with that we were punished,” Kensen, a former National Soccer League player with Oro FC, said. “Momase played a good game, they defended well and kept putting pressure on us so they deserved the win, we cannot take it away from them.”
The win was a positive end for Momase after they had lost to the University Inter FC 4-2 on Saturday.
PMSA premier league competition manager Paul Karambi said the weekend’s games were catch up matches for teams that were late inclusions into the premier competition.
The PMSA’s premier league’s second half of its season starts this weekend.
