THE Madang Covid-19 response team is in need of personal protective equipment such as safety footwear, non-contact (infrared) thermometers and gloves, a doctor says.
Head of emergency medicine at Modilon General Hospital Dr Juth Gawi made this known during a presentation of 100 protective suits to the Madang Covid-19 emergency response team in Madang by Ramu NiCo on Friday.
Gawi, who is also the deputy chairman of Madang Covid-19 emergency response team, said the donation would equip his team who would be at the forefront monitoring the situation.
He said the situation in the country had changed after a confirmed case of Covid-19 in Lae, Morobe, and this has raised concerns and challenges to get checkpoints, isolation wards and a quarantine centre set up in Madang within the shortest possible time.
Ramu NiCo corporate affairs general manager Charlie Hu said the company felt obligated to assist the province’s Covid-19 response team to ensure that Madang was safe for the residents.
He said Ramu NiCo donated K10,000 to the Madang Covid-19 technical response team on Feb 15.
