A MADANG MP yesterday launched an anti-Government tirade as Prime Minister Peter O’Neill was officiating at the ground-breaking ceremony for the K77.5 million airport extension project.
Madang MP Bryan Kramer using a loud-hailer accused the Government of “corrupt practices”.
When provincial police commander Chief Inspector Ben Neneo approached him, Kramer said it was his constitutional right to speak his mind.
The event was attended by O’Neill, government ministers, Madang Governor Peter Yama and other Madang MPs.
Kramer started unleashing the verbal attack against the government when O’Neill was getting off the backhoe during the ground-breaking ceremony of the project at the Madang airport.
He continued as O’Neill and Yama announced the upgrading of the town’s four-lane roads, the Madang-Ramu Highway and the construction of six bridges on the Madang-Usino Highway.
Yama said it was important to start development.
“We leaders should be worrying and talking about how we are going to use our DSIP to develop our districts,” Yama said.
Usino-Bundi MP Jimmy Uguro said they were embarrassed by Kramer’s action.
“(It) is unethical, childish and unbecoming of a leader,” Uguro said.
He said such diatribe should be better done in Parliament rather than “in public gatherings like this”.
The Government delegation left for the opening of Banab Bridge leaving Kramer behind some people at the airport. After the bridge opening, the government team arrived at Bates Oval in town where Kramer again appeared.
