Magistrate grants bail, adjourns case

A MAN in his 20s who was charged in the Waigani Committal Court with molesting a child was released on bail yesterday.
In granting bail, magistrate Tracy Ganai noted that Richard Wamp had been in custody for more than three months.
“Due to the seriousness of the offence, I am making this final adjournment so that prosecutor John Wamugl can liaise with the arresting officer to find out the status of the case files,” she said.
Ganai imposed bail conditions that Wamp should not interfere with the child, talk to her and her relatives until his final mention.
“Breach those conditions, you will be arrested and remanded,” she warned.
Wamp is alleged to have molested her at Taurama Beach on Sept 19.
The girl told her parents who then lodged a police.
Wamp was arrested and upon interrogation, admitted to committing the offence.

  • The accused confession of molesting is enough evidence for making a ruling and sentencing so what is the court waiting for?..If its the arresting officer’s file whom he failed to produce I suggest that the accused out on bail go molest the arresting officer’s daughter and see what course of acting he will do…bloody half baked PC!
