A MAGISTRATE has reserved his ruling over attempted murder charges against a university lecturer and his sons.
Waigani committal court Magistrate Danny Wakikura told John Arabel, 52, Duetron Arabel, 22 and Levi Arabel 25 from Sinasina in Chimbu that the ruling was ready but he needed to collect it from the clerk of court.
“Your ruling is reserved for Tuesday (today).
“I will rule on that day whether there is sufficient evidence or not,” Wakikura told the defendants.
Wakikura said the warrant of arrest for the fourth defendant Jelfred Arabel was extended for police to re-arrest him and take him to court.
Police Prosecutor Peter Samghy said the investigating officer would re-arrest Jelfred and bring him to court to explain why he had not been attending court.
It was alleged that on Jan 1 this year between 7pm and 8pm at the University of Papua New Guinea staff residential area, Fort Banner, the four defendants were allegedly drunk and attacked a security guard, Cletus Wangi Timus, seriously injuring him.
