Mainland Holdings ‘making millions’ for Morobe

Business

MAINLAND Holdings Ltd (MHL) has raked in millions for the province through poultry products, director Menos Arthris says.
Arthris said the company had contributed so much towards the development of the province and country since its inception in 1968.
He said this during the launching of Pasakwep Business Group at Nabak LLG, Nawaeb, on Thursday. Pasakwep and other cooperative groups formed by local coffee, cocoa and poultry farmers are supported by MHL in terms of training, logistical support, marketing and expertise.
Arthris told the people of Nabak that Morobe had the potential to supply the people of the Pacific with poultry products.
“MHL has extended to Solomon Islands and Fiji,” he said.
“There are possibilities of sending poultry products to these countries if only we can produce quality and quantity.”
Arthris said MHL produced over 30,000 eggs per hour with the latest modern facilities.
He said despite some groups pulling out from MHL, through its Niugini Tablebirds subsidiary, it had truly supported Morobe farmers in the business.
Former director Nani Gigiong challenged the Nabak people to expand with support from MHL.
“We have been supported by MHL all along, so we must prove to them that we are expanding our business,” he said.
“For so many years, since the existence of MHL, it has supported local people in poultry farming and cash cropping as well but there has been not much expansion.”
