Man, 23, charged with wilful murder

POLICE in East New Britain have charged a man with wilful murder in connection with the death of a woman believed to be known to him.
Tailot Daniel, 23, of the Lurungi block in the Riet ward of Sinivit is detained at the Kokopo police station awaiting his court appearance next week.
According to provincial police commander Chief Insp Joseph Tabali, the alleged incident occurred on Monday at the Kokok block in Warangoi, Pomio, at around 7pm.
Chief Inspt Tabali said the allegation was that the woman, 22, was inside a room at her uncle’s house when Daniel broke in and assaulted her.
“The crime was committed for no good reason,” he said.
“The matter was reported to the police the same night and the suspect was arrested.”
Police identified the deceased as Jacinta Kevin, 22, from Aiwambia village in Menyamya district of Morobe
Police are on the ground monitoring the situation
