THE man accused of killing four family members early this month has been further remanded in custody by a court to await the completion of police investigation into the case.
Christopher Johnson Kamo, 39, from Kambaramba village in the Angoram district of East Sepik appeared for mention yesterday before Magistrate Betty Jacob in the Mt Hagen District Court charged with four counts of wilful murder.
Magistrate Jacob told him he was facing very serious charges and the court had no power to grant him bail. She adjourned the case to June 26.
Sergeant Paul Urangian appeared for the prosecution.
The court was told that the incident took place between 2pm and 5.30pm at Kim village outside Mt Hagen on May 6.
Kamo was living with his biological daughter Adonia Christopher, aged 2, his partner Silingu Lamu’s daughters Irene Narakau, 8, and Genelyn Narakau, 6, plus their baby-sitter Maggie Geyocmata, 20.
Police alleged that Kamo sent Geyocmata out of the house then allegedly strangled Irene and Genelyn.
He later hit their heads with a stone.
Police allege that Kamo then called Geyocmata into the house and used a knife to kill her.
Police also alleged that Kamo later left his daughter Adonia with a babysitter who he paid K50.
When Lamu returned home from work, police allege that Kamo locked her inside and used a knife to kill her.
Lamu’s scream was heard by the landlord Paul Kupp, his son Brian and another boy Norman James.
Police alleged that they tried to enter the house but the door was locked.
When Kupp told his family to bring the spare key for the door, police alleged that Kamo jumped through the window and fled.
