A COURT has told a man accused of sexually violating an eight-year-old girl inside a motel lobby in Port Moresby to make his submission when the case is called next Wednesday.
Waigani Committal Court Magistrate Garry Unjo remanded Steven Sarufa, 35, of Tapalu village, Malalaua in Gulf, at Bomana Prison.
He is facing two counts of sexual penetration against a minor.
The court was told that Sarufa was a security guard at the motel while the girl’s mother was a cleaner. Police alleged that on June 4 last year, at around 8pm, the motel’s sewerage system was blocked.
The mother told the girl to go and wait at the reception area while she tried to clear the blockage.
The girl was at the reception with a two-year-old boy and his grandmother. Sarufa allegedly accused the girl of stealing his packet of cigarette and conducted a search on her, touching her body.
The girl returned to the reception couch.
It was alleged that Sarufa followed and sat with her.
He allegedly held her hands and began fingering her.
The boy saw what was happening and tried to attract his grandmother’s attention.
Sarufa allegedly tried to take the two youngsters away.
He was later arrested.
