Man beats wife over Facebook message

A MAN beating his wife over a message in her Facebook account has been found guilty by the Mount Hagen District Court.
Nicki John, aged 30, from Mt Hagen Central and father of four children, was found guilty on Friday after being charged under the Family Protection Act.
Police said that on July 28 at New Town in Mt Hagen, Western Highlands, the defendant went to his wife, Regina Sepa, and children in their home and had an argument with her.
Police told the court that they had an argument over a message on her phone. Police told the court that John, who had come back from Lae after spending two months, became angry and struck his wife on her face and head. Police said Sepa sustained injuries including swelling and bruises to her face and head.
John admitted that he had attacked his wife.
Magistrate Lydia Karre found him guilty and asked the probation officers to prepare a pre-sentence report and submitted to the court before she would hand down her decision.
