A MAN arrested after an armed robbery in Alotau in March appeared in the Waigani Commital Court on Friday charged with an earlier armed robbery in Erima, Port Moresby.
Joe Siare, 34, from Nabua village in Bereina, Central, was charged with armed robbery of the Convenient Shop at the Total Service Station in Erima on Sept 27 last year between 8pm and 9pm.
Siare, with four others, allegedly armed themselves with four handguns, two home-made and two factory-made pistols, and took more than K16,000 from the shop.
While two of them entered the manager’s office and the fuel registry office and stole the money, one stood watch at the main door. They walked out to a waiting vehicle and went to Boreboa Street in Waigani where they left the vehicle with the driver and took two taxis to Gerehu Stage 7 and distributed the money.
Siare, associated with Alotau criminal leader Tommy Baker, surrendered to police when he was caught after an alleged armed robbery in Alotau on March 20 this year. He was brought back to Port Moresby on March 21. On March 29, Siare admitted to the armed robbery CID squad that he committed the offence at Total Service Station. He was arrested and charged.
Magistrate Ernest Wilmot adjourned the case to May 14 to allow to carry out further investigations.
